Vice President JD Vance is reportedly the clear frontrunner for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination, according to an early poll released by Echelon Insights on Monday (July 14).

Vance received a majority 43% support among Republican and Republican-leaning voters, holding a 33-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is reported to have 9% support. Secretary of State Marco Rubio ranked third with 7% support, followed by former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley at 6%, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 5% and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 4%.

An estimated 16% of Republican or Republican-leaning respondents said they were unsure who they would vote for in 2028.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly the clear frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination. Harris, who lost the 2024 election to President Donald Trump last November, received 26% of support among Democrats and Democratic-leading voters.

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was second with 11% support, followed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom at 10%.

Sen. Cory Booker was reported to have 7% support among Democrats while Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had 6%. The poll also included billionaire Mark Cuban at 3%, as well as ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith and comedian Jon Stewart both at 1%.

An estimated 13% of Democratic or Democratic-leaning voters claimed they were unsure who they would vote for in 2028, as the Democratic primaries are still more than two years away. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who was Harris' running mate in 2024, was reported to have a majority 14% as the "second choice" in a poll excluding Harris as an option, followed by Ocasio-Cortez at 13%, and Newsom at 9%.
