Allen Gould, a Pennsylvania resident, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, Anna Maciejewska, who disappeared in 2017. Maciejewska, a 43-year-old native of Poland, was last seen on March 28, 2017. Her disappearance was reported by a co-worker and a friend on April 11, followed by Gould's report the next day, according to the Chester County District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors allege that phone and financial records, along with witness accounts, indicate Maciejewska stopped her normal routine on March 29. Notably, a suspicious text message was sent from her phone to her father in Poland on March 30, which contained grammatical errors uncommon for a native speaker. Investigators found a printout of the translated message in Gould’s home.

Gould claimed he last saw Maciejewska on April 10 when she left for work, but her car's internal system showed it was never driven that day. Her car was later found in May at an apartment complex parking lot nearly two miles from their home. Inside their house, police discovered Maciejewska’s iPhone and iPad, with the phone appearing to have been reset. Divorce paperwork and evidence of marital discord were also found.

According to the criminal complaint, Maciejewska had visited over 150 websites related to divorce and emotional abuse. She had allegedly expressed her desire for a divorce to a friend, but Gould was opposed, fearing he would lose parental rights if she took their son to Poland.

After reporting his wife missing, Gould allegedly ceased cooperating with the police, hired a criminal defense attorney, and acquired a second cellphone. He was arrested on Wednesday and is being held without bail on charges including first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 27. Gould's defense attorney, Evan Kelly, stated that Gould intends to clear his name in court. Maciejewska’s body has never been found.
