Boston (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts could get five to nine inches of snow Saturday night.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning starting Saturday at 7 p.m. until Sunday at 1 p.m. This latest storm system is expected to move into the Boston area Saturday at 9 p.m. and will last until 4 a.m. Sunday morning, with the northern part of the state taking much of the impact.
“Generally, north of the mass pike probably [be getting] close to that nine inch amount,” Francis Tarasiewicz with the NWS told WBZ NewsRadio.
He added that the Cape and Islands won’t be seeing as much of the snow or flooding this time around but still expect some potential sleet mixed in.
With many people heading out this weekend for Super Bowl LIX, Tarasiewicz said the snow should subside before it’s time to head out the door.
“The actual snow falling from the sky won’t be an issue,” he said. “Of course, the secondary roads maybe an issue. Generally speaking, we’re not expecting snow to really last much longer than Sunday morning.”
