Brian Kelly has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the LSU Tigers football team following only their third loss of the season and Doug Gottlieb thinks that was an awfully quick trigger. The SEC is so ridiculously stacked with talented teams that it’s nearly impossible to stay on top every single season and firing your coach mid-season seems like a knee-jerk reaction.
Doug Gottlieb: “We’ve reached this point of ridiculousness in college football. It started this year when you fire two coaches, three games into the season, and now you’re firing just anybody who doesn’t win an SEC championship and the expectations are as such. But it’s also fair to say that Brian Kelly to LSU was a weird fit, but what I think got LSU, what got Brian Kelly is the depth of that league.”
