LeBron James Shares Emotional Postgame Monologue on Breonna Taylor's Death

The Los Angeles Lakers took a commanding 3-1 lead over the Nuggets on Thursday night behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But for LeBron, it was clear that he had something bigger on his mind.

In a postgame interview, LeBron was asked if the Breonna Taylor situation weighed heavy on him coming into this game.

The emotions is very high. We have a teammate on our team who is from Louisville in Rajon. I know we lost a beautiful woman in Breonna that has no say so right now.

Yesterday afternoon, a Louisville grand jury indicted former detective Brett Hankinson on three felony charges of wanton endangerment in the shooting that killed Breonna Taylor. Those charges, however, weren’t related to the actual killing of Taylor, but rather him allegedly endangering neighbors when he fired shots inside Taylor’s apartment that night.

LeBron, who has been very vocal this entire season and especially in the bubble, missed his media session yesterday and was open about how he felt when the verdict came back in the Breonna Taylor case. Here is what James said on Twitter:

I’ve been lost for words today! I’m devastated, hurt, sad, mad! We want Justice for Breonna yet justice was met for her neighbors apartment walls and not her beautiful life. Was I surprised at the verdict. Absolutely not but damnit I was & still am hurt and heavy hearted! I send my love to Breonna mother, family and friends! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!!

James continued on Twitter on Wednesday night after sharing the poem, saying he wasn’t shocked by the news from the grand jury. That, though, didn’t make it any easier.
