MEDWAY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — There’s a search on in Medway for a beloved giant skeleton who has lost his head.
‘Kevin Skellington,’ a plastic 12-foot skeleton that has become quite famous among the town, has been standing at Choate Park since 2013, even dressing up for different holidays. Medway Parks and Recreation Director Julie Harrington said Kevin has been like a member of the family.
“Kevin's kind of taken a life of his own, he's kind of like our third department member,” said Harrington. “He was a turkey, he celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, Quanza, he was a marathon runner.”
Medway Parks and Recreation made a Facebook post on Wednesday informing the community of the missing plastic head and asking for help if spotted.
Harrington said that the department stored Kevin behind the Medway recreation center while the snow piled up. Upon going to set him back up for the season, she found Kevin lying on his side with his head removed.
“So they’re definitely going to be sad, all the kids in town,” said Harrington. “If someone did take it, maybe they were just being silly, thinking it was funny. We’d love for someone to bring him back, just so we can get him back together and have everyone happy again.”
Medway Police are investigating this as a larceny.
