FOXBORO, Massachusetts (WBZ NewsRadio) — The project has taken 15 years to complete, and it's now on display at Foxboro Regional Charter School.
A large plastic cube is filled with 1.5 million canceled stamps, representing every child killed during the Holocaust.
Retired teacher Charlotte Scheer started the project back in 2009.
Her goal was to teach kids, that much like canceled stamps, Jewish people were thrown away like trash during the Holocaust.
It's a lesson this fifth grader took to heart. "Every stamp is a soul that we lost during the Holocaust," she said. "To me, this display means life."
The school's outreach and communications manager Amanda Mathias said that she hopes the display can help teach generations hope, acceptance, and kindness.
