BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Cecarre Pizza & Provisions just recently opened in Boston's Prudential Center, and a new menu item is giving patrons a taste of luxury.
The restaurant now offers a specially curated Roman Pinsa-style pizza, dubbed ‘La Zarina,’ topped with caviar, crème fresh, and edible 23-karat gold.
Restaurant owners Sam and Nina Patel said they came up with the idea while on vacation after rebranding from their former restaurant Descendent.
“It was her dream to have a pizza place,” said Sam. “We [made the decision] sitting on a beach, thinking about what we were going to do next, and we only had two weeks to do it.”
The couple said the goal of the pricey pie is to have something to show off while tasting great.
“[We want to] give clients something that they can present in the office, to executives, CEO’s, whatever they can, and at the same time, it tastes really good,” said Sam. “If it doesn’t taste well, then it’s all for show.”
The popularity of the slices has been growing, considering the bake time was trimmed down to 7 minutes.
A slice costs $12, and a whole pizza costs $50.
