MANSFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A coffee shop chain celebrated a special anniversary by providing free coffee.

Regulars and new customers flocked to Aroma Joe’s to enjoy a free coffee to commemorate the anniversary of the company’s switch to ethically sourced beans in Honduras, who receive a portion of the profits. Manager of the Mansfield location Jim said it is a day that they are all passionate about.

“A few years back, Aroma Joes switched to these beans. Our beans are grown in Honduras [and] roasted in Maine,” said Jim. “Every year we celebrate our “bean-iversary” from when we made that switch, so it’s today and we’re excited about it.”

WBZ’s Chris Fama spoke to residents as they took advantage of the free jolt of energy, coming out of a long weekend.

“It must be a New England thing, but I’m just always used to it and it goes down smoother for whatever reason,” said one customer.

“I can’t wait to try their coffee. [It’s] free coffee today, so yeah. I’m looking forward to that actually to warm up here,” said another customer on his way into the coffee shop.
