BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — If you want to avoid the Super Tuesday voting crowds, this week is your chance. For the first time ever, this year Massachusetts voters can cast their ballots early for the presidential primary race.
According to Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin's Office, early voting starts on Monday, February 24 and runs through Friday February 28. Any voter can cast their vote early for any reason at all. "We're obviously hoping voters will take advantage of this new opportunity to cast their vote," Galvin said.
All cities and towns are required to offer the early voting but hours and locations can be limited.
Secretary Galvin told WBZ NewsRadio he is expecting a healthy turnout of early voters this week. "It has been picking up a lot in of inquires to our official website in the past few days. So we think that's an indication of voter interest, and we hope that will encourage turnout."
Massachusetts voters already affiliated with a political party can only vote in that party's primary. Voters unaffiliated with any party can vote in the primary of their choice.
