PEABODY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A group known for leaving big tips for servers at eateries around Massachusetts struck again during the snow storm over the weekend, this time on the North Shore.
Two waitresses at Red's Kitchen and Tavern in Peabody were shocked when they were handed a nearly $7,200 tip by a table of 40 people.
"The blizzard had started, I drove in [and] it was gross out, I knew I had to work all day open to close," waitress Nicole Boiardi recounted the start to her day.
A large group of Peloton enthusiasts, called the Wicked Smaht Zone, left the big tip, keeping up a tradition they've been doing for years.
"We were like wait no, that can't be real," waitress Raisa Zan told WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe.

"[We're] really grateful, I think everyone deserves a little so we gave some out to the back of the house because we couldn't do it without them," said Boiardi.
At the end of the day, both of the waitresses took home about $3,000.
"It's just me and my daughter, I work hard, don't do a lot for myself, so I'm just going to do a little something for me and then put the rest away," said Boiardi.
Wicked Smaht Zone has been leaving thousands of dollars worth of tips for servers for years as an act of kindness.
The group started the tradition in 2022 when they left a large tip for waitresses at Lowell's Restaurant in Mendon.
