MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The union representing Stop and Shop workers is set to vote Sunday on whether or not to authorize a strike against Stop and Shop grocery stores in the area.
The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) represents over 30,000 Stop and Shop workers, according to Hartford Business.
UFCW launched a digital campaign on Tuesday that portrays customers who said digital checkouts have cost workers hours and jobs.
Stop and Shop has yet to respond to the digital campaign.
“Full-time Stop and Shop associates are among the highest paid food retail workers in the region,” the company said in a statement.

Shopper Mary Pullo, from Medford, said if there was a Stop and Shop strike, she would identify with the workers.
“If they’re not getting their benefits, then I would stand with them and not cross the picket line. I’d go find another place to shop,” Pullo said.
