Melrose Woman Plans To Return To Finish Line 6 Years After Bombing

MELROSE, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Monday could be a very emotional time at the Marathon finish line for a Melrose mom who is returning to that place and remembering what happened there six years ago.

On April 15 2013 Liz Norton's two sons, JP and Paul, were with friends at the Boston Marathon finish line.

They were right where the bomb was when it went off.

Each of her son's lost both their legs they both could have easily died.

She says she remembers getting that phone call like it were yesterday.

Fast forward six years later, Norton tells WBZ NewsRadio’s Carl Stevens that she plans to be at the finish line on Boyslton Street to watch her daughter Caitlin finish her first Boston Marathon.

Liz hopes that her two sons will be there with her, but she's not sure they can handle it.

She says wanted to see Caitlin run because Caitlin is raising money for A Leg Forever Foundation which the family established the money goes to people who need the kind of help Paul and JP needed after that bomb went off.

The team that's running for a leg forever Foundation is raising $70,000 on Monday, Caitlin alone raised $15,000 of that.
