Massachusetts Nears 110,000 Cases Of Coronavirus

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has reported another 136 cases of coronavirus, bringing the state's total number of cases to 109,974.

The state DPH also reported an additional 11 deaths attributed to the virus, bringing the COVID-related death toll in Massachusetts to 8,183.

Middlesex County has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the Commonwealth, with more than 24,000 reported so far.

Suffolk County, which includes the cities of Boston, Revere, Winthrop and Chelsea, has the second-highest number of cases in the state, with just under 20,000 cases confirmed.

While Chelsea is the city with the highest rate of infection in the state, Boston's cases account for about 70 percent of the COVID-cases in Suffolk County.

On Wednesday, Chelsea reported just under 3,000 cases, and Boston reported close to 14,000 cases so far.
