Lori Loughlin, Other Defendants File Motion For Charges To Be Dismissed

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Actress Lori Loughlin, along with 13 other defendants in the college admissions scandal, are filing a motion to have their charges dismissed in Massachusetts federal court.

CNN reports the defendants argue that Massachusetts is not the right venue for the cases because they live outside of the state, and the alleged crimes also happened outside of the state. The group of defendants includes Loughlin's husand, fashioner designer Mossimo Giannulli.

Loughlin has pleaded not guilty in the case. Back in February, lawyers for her and Giannulli said there was evidence that proved their innocence. A court filing claims the scheme's mastermind Rick Singer had taken notes saying the FBI wanted him to lie that he had told the parents the payments were bribes.

Loughlin and Giannulli claim they thought the payments were legitimate donations.
