Joe Andruzzi Foundation Brings Day Of Fun For Cancer Patients

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Joe Andruzzi Foundation, along with Boston Harbor Cruises, hosted dozens of cancer patients, survivors, and their families last week on a speedboat through Boston Harbor.

The foundation held their tenth annual Codzilla Thrill Ride last Thursday, where a speedboat raced “around the harbor at upwards of 40 miles per hour,” according to the foundation.

The ride intended to give the “special passengers a well-deserved day of laughter and fun.”

Former Patriots player and three-time Super Bowl champion Joe Andruzzi started the foundation in 2008.

The foundation has helped thousands of families with expenses — including those that go beyond medical bills, such as mortgage, utilities, and food.

They use fun and happiness in their fight against cancer, using the term (Up)Beat Cancer as their “rally-cry,” according to the foundation’s website.

“You’ll see everybody around us here today smiling. The sun’s out, and we’re ready to take a fun trip. We call it an upbeat outing because (Up)Beat Cancer is all about staying positive,” Andruzzi said.
