Gov. Baker Announces All Remaining COVID Restrictions To Be Lifted May 29

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Days after the CDC issued new mask guidance for fully vaccinated people, Gov. Charlie Baker announced the state will lift all remaining COVID-19 restrictions by May 29. That includes the state's face covering order.

Gov. Baker will also end the State of Emergency on June 15.

On May 29, all industries will be allowed to reopen. Capacity will increase to 100% for all industries and the gathering limit will be rescinded.

The state will also lift the mask order on May 29, and replace it with a mask advisory. Non-vaccinated people will be encouraged to wear masks and to continue practicing social distancing in most settings. The advisory will recommend that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or practice social distancing indoors or outdoors except in certain situations.

Masks will still be required for everyone on public and private transportation (like the MBTA), healthcare facilities and providers, congregate care settings, and health and rehabilitative day services. They will also be required in indoors for all staff and students at K-12 schools and early education providers.

Starting on May 18, masks will no longer be required for youth and amateur sports. Also on that day, face coverings will not be required for outdoor activities like recess.
