Annual Run In Boston Honors Fallen First Responders

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The 15th annual Run to Remember was held in Boston Sunday morning. The half marathon and five mile race were meant to honor fallen first responders.

A ceremony, which included a moment of silence, was held before the run to honor Weymouth Police Sgt. Michael Chesna and Worcester firefighter Christopher Roy.

Among the 10,000 runners who participated were Steve and Kaitlyn from the Webster and Auburn Police Departments. They ran wearing their full uniforms.

“Why not do it? It’s a little bit of a challenge. I’ve done plenty of road races in the past. Wouldn’t just, like how these folks are doing, shorts and tee-shirts. That’s too easy. Let’s make it a little more of a challenge and see how it is,” Steve said.

The race’s proceeds are given back to community programs, including Cops for Kids with Cancer.
