First In New England: New Hampshire Lifting Mask Mandate On Friday

NEW HAMPSHIRE (WBZ NewsRadio) — Governor Chris Sununu announced on Thursday, New Hampshire will become the first state in New England to lift its statewide mask mandate.

The state's mask mandate was set to expire on Friday and Sununu announced Thursday, at his weekly coronavirus update, that it will not be renewed.

"As fatalities continue to decline, as hospitalizations remain manageable, and as vaccinations continue to increase, the state’s mask mandate will not be renewed tomorrow," tweeted Sununu.

He also tweeted, that the mandate going away will not limit or prevent private businesses, cities, or towns from requiring masks.

He also said that Granite State residents know how to keep themselves and their neighbors safe without a state mandate, which is what they did before the winter surge.
