Hayley Williams Drops Uplifting New Song ‘Over Yet’ Off Upcoming Album

For a pessimist, she's pretty optimistic (see what I did there?).

Hayley Williams has been steadily releasing music for fans and just dropped a new offering off her upcoming solo debut, Petals For Armor, on Thursday (April 2)

Titled “Over Yet,” the new song is ’80s-style pop bop that has lyrics as uplifting as the music it's played to.

She sings: “It’s the right time/ To come alive/ Baby if you wanna try/ To get out of your head, yes/ Break a sweat / Baby tell yourself it ain't over yet.”

The lyrics are a stark contrast to the first few songs we've heard from Petals For Armor including “Simmer" and "Leave It Alone.” But there's a reason for that. With each new bundle of songs Williams releases, she's moving from dark to light and it's safe to say we're getting a glimpse of the light with “Over Yet.”

“I don’t think you can get to the good s**t without digging through the bad first,” she told Rolling Stone in a new interview. “It’s like you are trying to find the center of the Earth — how can you find that without cracking through limestone and heavy, hard things?”

While Williams released a selection of music titled Petals For Armor I, due to the global pandemic, the Paramore singer decided to release the new chunk of songs individually.

Like all her lyric videos so far, fans are given a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the song. You'll get a glimpse of Williams' album cover shoot, among other photo shoots, in the lyric video for “Over Yet.”
