Chris Cuomo Says COVID-19 Fever Was So Bad He Hallucinated Seeing Late Dad

Chris Cuomo recently had one of the toughest nights of his life due to his hellish coronavirus symptoms.

While broadcasting from his basement as he self-quarantines at home, the 49-year-old CNN anchor, who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, opened up about his symptoms, which included hallucinating conversations with his late father, Mario Cuomo, feeling like he was being beaten in the chest “like a piñata,” and shivering so hard he chipped a tooth.

"This virus came at me, I’ve never seen anything like it," he shared. "So yeah I’ve had a fever... 102, 103, 103 plus, that wouldn’t quit, and it was like somebody was beating me like a piñata, and I was shivering so much that ... I chipped my tooth."

"I was up all night, I’m telling you I was hallucinating, my dad was talking to me, I was seeing people from college, people I haven’t seen forever, it was freaky what I lived through last night. And it may happen again tonight," Chris continued. "Doctor says it may happen like 5, 8 times. You know, I get it now, and if you match that with chest constriction of people can’t breathe, I totally get why we’re losing so many people and why are hospitals are so crowded."

The CNN anchor went on to issue a message to the public, saying, "don’t be me, but more importantly be better than we’re being right now. Care enough not just to stay home but to stay on our leaders, to make sure that they’re doing everything they can to limit this. I’m telling you this is the part of our lives we will live through and remember the most. How do you want to be remembered during this time?"

Despite having an extremely tough night, Chris said he's just grateful his wife and children tested negative for COVID-19. “My biggest fear was passing this on to Cristina and the kids,” he admitted. “Even though I feel way worse than I did yesterday in terms of symptoms, it’s been a great day. They’re [tested] negative and that is the best thing I’ve ever heard.”
