Walk For Wuhan Between Newton City Hall and Boston College

NEWTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds of people are walking from Newton City Hall to Boston College in order to raise money to fight the Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China.

The Walk For Wuhan Event was organized by members of the Newton Chinese School, the largest Chinese school in New England. It kicked off Sunday at 2 p.m. with organizers estimating 400 people would be in attendance.

Hours earlier, Chinese officials confirmed that out of nearly 80,000 cases of the virus across the globe, nearly 77,000 of them are in China. The city of Wuhan has been the epicenter of the Coronavirus.

Organizers of the Walk for Wuhan said all donations will go to Wuhan hospitals for medical supplies, and the walk is also designed to raise social awareness and advocate humanity in fighting the virus.

Participants will be making their way along Carriage Lane of Commonwealth Ave for 2 miles.
