BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — Olivia Ambrose, a 23-year-old woman missing since Saturday night in Boston, has been found alive and safe in Charlestown and a suspect has been arrested and charged with kidnapping Boston Police said Tuesday.
Ambrose was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and the suspect, Victor Pena, 38, of Charlestown, has been charged with kidnapping. Additional charges could follow said Boston Police Commissioner William Gross.
Ambrose had last been seen around 11 p.m. Saturday night leaving Hennessey's Bar with a man near Faneuil Hall. While Police say that man was initially sought after, he was eliminated as a suspect.
The Jamaica Plain resident had been out with her twin sister and friends and had just moved to the city from Wenham a week ago.
Boston Police shared photos earlier Tuesday afternoon of a man they said was a person of interest in the search for Ambrose. They said he and another man was seen on surveillance images with Ambrose, about 40 minutes after she left the bar, guiding her toward the State Street MBTA station--and then leading her out of the Bunker Hill MBTA station around midnight.
"Twice, Pena was observed engaging Ms. Ambrose ... to the point where at certain points he was phyically guiding and holding on to her," Gross said.
They were spotted again on surveillance walking along Green Street, and her phone last pinged at the housing development.
In addition, Gross said tips received and extensive door-to-door investigation led to the location of Ambrose.
Gross said that officers continued to knock on the door of Pena during the door-to-door search, once the door was opened they observed Ambrose standing next to him.
"They were separated from each other," Gross said.
A large police presence could be seen on Walford Way in Charlestown near the Bunker Hill housing development where Ambrose she was found.
"One of the most important thing is that this is an on-going investigation if anyone saw anything please contact Boston Police," Commissioner Gross said.
Pena is set to be arraigned in Court on Wednesday.
