BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — A settlement has been reached between striking hotel workers and Marriott. The union supporting Marriott workers overwhelmingly voted to ratify the new contract with Marriott on Saturday, ending the strike.

Members of the UNITE HERE Local 26 union first went on strike Oct. 3 from seven Marriott-operated hotels throughout Boston, demanding fair wages with the slogan that “One Job Should Be Enough.” This marked the first hotel strike in Boston history.

Union members made a tentative agreement with Marriott Saturday morning before the vote. Members met at the Hynes Convention Center Saturday around 2 p.m. for the ratification vote.

Last month, local politicians — led by City Councilors Ed Flynn and Michelle Wu — gave a letter to Marriott management demanding movement in negotiations.

Workers have also been on strike in Hawaii, San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, San Diego, and Detroit.
