French President Emmanuel Macron says he's persuaded President Trump to keep troops in Syria. In an interview on French media, Macron said he convinced Trump that it was essential to keep U.S. soldiers in Syria, long term. President Trump said earlier this month that he wanted to remove troops from Syria. That was before a chemical weapons attack forced the U.S., Britain and France to launch air strikes against Syria.
Macron claims he also swayed Trump into only targeting Syria chemical weapons sites.
